POONCH, Mar 28: Amidst lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir due to Corona pandemic and restriction of movement of people, Dr Shazad Malik, former Vice Chancellor of Sai Nath University and   prominent social activist from Poonch has appealed the Jammu and Kashmir Government to make arrangements for providing relief and transportation for stranded passengers from Rajouri and Poonch who are stuck in different areas of Jammu due to non availability of public transport.
The former VC informed that there are several people including Government employees, students, patients and attendants hailing from remote districts of Jammu region, who were in Jammu city but could not reach their native villages due to lockdown and restrictions announced by the administration.
Making a fervent appeal to the J&K UT administration,  he demanded that all these people who are stuck here in Jammu district are now running out of money and are compelled to stay in Jammu. Many of them are without food, medicine and proper shelter, therefore the UT Government, the social activists and NGOs should come forward and make arrangements for departure of these stranded passengers to their respective destinations.  Though he also appreciated the major relief programs announced by the J&K UT administration and Government of India in the wake of COVID-19 including providing of free ration and temporary moratorium for paying monthly EMIs to the bank against loans.
