BAJALTA Feb 14: Sher-e-Kashmir Khanpur Tigers and Baba Phed Kattalbatal Kings outplayed their rivals convincingly in the ongoing Maruti Suzuki Nagrota Premier League T20 Cricket Championship, an initiative of MLA Devender Singh Rana at sprawling Bajalta Playfield, here.
The first match was played between Krishanpur Jaguars and Sher-e-Kashmir Khanpur Tigers. Krishanpur Jaguars won the toss and elected to field first.
Put into bat, Sher-e-Kashmir Khanpur Tigers scored 121 runs in the stipulated 14 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Shakoor and Ashfaq scored 36 and 30 runs respectively.
In reply, Krishanpur Jaguars failed to chase the target and managed to score only 110 runs in 14 overs by losing 7 wickets in the process, thus lost the match by 12 runs. Ashfaq scored power-packed 30 runs off 12 balls, studded with 4 sixes. For this performance, he was declared as man of the match.
The second match was played between Baba Phed Kattalbatal Kings and Bamyal Incredibles.
Winning the toss and batting first, Bamyal Incredibles collapsed at 82 runs in 13.2 overs. Vinay was the top scorer with 17 runs.
In reply, Baba Phed Kattalbatal Kings chased the target in 9 overs losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Vishal for scoring valuable 24 runs and taking 4 important wickets was declared as man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Pankaj Sasun and Suresh Singh from the Department of Youth Services & Sports, J&K.
Meanwhile International cricketer,Parvez Rasool, who has played in the Indian Premier League, made this Sunday big for over a thousand cricketers at the sprawling Bajalta play-field.
Amid huge applause of the players of Nagrota Assembly Constituency and thousands of cricket lovers, Rasool bestowed tips to the budding cricketers.
Throwing light on the significance of T-20 cricket, Rasool urged upon the players to complete the stipulated overs in one and a half hour.
The much admired cricketer, Parvez Rasool, who represented Team India against Bangladesh, assured the cricketers that they will find him always with them whenever they require his services for fine-tuning the game.
The cricketers and the fans jostled around Parvez Rasool to get his autographs and selfees.
