JAMMU, Sept 27: Author Shireen Kalra recently had the honour of attending the United Nations General Assembly Summit of the Future Action Days at the UN Headquarters in New York. Representing the United Nations Millennium Fellowship, a global movement of young changemakers, Shireen engaged with a diverse group of world leaders and experts focused on strategies for achieving sustainable development goals.
The summit, which emphasized collaboration and innovative solutions for global challenges, featured keynote speeches from prominent figures, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Shireen participated in several civil society events during UN General Assembly week, such as Goalkeepers 2030 hosted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Big Bets for Climate Futures at the Rockefeller Foundation.
An alumna of St Mary’s Presentation Convent School Jammu, Shireen is currently pursuing an MSc in Higher Education (Policy) at the University of Oxford. Her participation in this prestigious summit highlights her commitment to advocacy in sustainable development and educational policy, showcasing the talent emerging from Jammu on an international platform.
