JAMMU, Apr 26: Shiv Mandir Charitable Trust (SMCT), Shiv Market, Railway Station, Jammu, elected its new team of office bearers in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Shiv Pratap Gupta, Senior vice-president.
The meeting was attended by ten trustees who unanimously elected Shiv Pratap Gupta as president, Rajinder Parsad Saraf as senior vice-president, YR Gupta and Kuldeep K Pangotra as vice-presidents, Vishwa Mittar Gupta as general secretary, BB Vaid as secretary and Krishna Kutty as treasurer.
Speaking on the occasion, the newly elected president said that established in 1990, Shiv Mandir Charitable Trust is involved in charitable, social and religious activities such as holding Amarnath Yatra Langar for almost one and a half month every year and serving morning tea and snacks to yatris of Vaishno Devi throughout the year.
“The trust has also established physiotherapy and yoga centre free of cost. It also celebrates the festivals like Shivratri, Janamashtami and Ram Navmi by arranging bhandaras for the devotees. Besides, the trust provides accommodation to the yatries with nominal charges (used for maintenance purpose). Moreover, the Trust has also purchased land for establishing an educational institution for needy and poor children of the society which will be managed purely on charitable basis”, he added.
