Shivani selected for Asian Climbing C’ship, WC

JAMMU, Sept 29: Shivani Charak, golden sport climber of J&K, has been selected by Indian Mountaineering Foundation for representing the country in the upcoming Asian Climbing Championship as well as World Cup (Olympic Format), scheduled to be held at Seoul in South Korea from October 10 to 16, while World Cup is slated to be held at Marioka, Japan from October 18 to 23.
Shivani Charak, the top ranked women climber of India along with Anisha Verma of East Zone has been selected to participate in both the Asian Climbing Championship as well as World Cup, two other women climbers Sania Farooq of West Zone and Pratiksha Arun of South Zone shall compete in Asian Championship.
It is pertinent to mention here that 21 years old Shivani Charak is an incredible sport climber of India who has won a Bronze medal at the Asian Youth Championship besides a staggering 26 medals including 11 Gold and 12 Silver medals at the National level.
Tawi Trekkers J&K, parent club of Shivani Charak, led by its chairman Anil Goswami, former Union Home Secretary along with other office bearers of Mountaineering Association of J&K gave an emotional send off to Shivani and wished her good luck for the upcoming international competitions in a function organized at Press Club of Jammu.
