JAMMU, Dec 22: Ace sport climber of J&K, Shivani Charak brought laurels to J&K by winning a Gold medal in the women’s category of Nilgiri Cup, which concluded on December 21 at Wellington in Tamil Nadu.
In a tough competition among the three international climbers, Sania Farooque Shaikh of Maharashtra, Shivani of J&K and Ritika Ravat of Delhi, Shivani and Sania climbed the same height but Shivani who had taken only 4.22 minutes against Sania’s 5.36 minutes emerged victorious on the basis of less time taken to achieve that height.
The other J&K climber Arun Deep Singh who was among the 77 odd sport climbers in the men’s category also performed well to secure the 10th rank. The competition was organized by Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi in association with Army Adventure Wing.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal, president, Sumit Khajuria, vice president and Shawetica Khajuria, general secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K have congratulated Shivani for her yet another magnificent achievement.
