Shivansh, Junaid slam cracking tons; Samad scores thunderous fifty

J&K defeats AP with margin of 317 runs

JAMMU, Nov 5: J&K’s batting quartet of skipper Shivansh Sharma, promising Qazi Junaid Masood, explosive Abdul Samad and talented Musaif Ajaz were at their murderous best against hapless Arunachal Pradesh bowlers and alongwith gutsy Kawal Preet Singh helped their team to score a massive total of 406 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, thus enabling their bowlers to make merry resulting into a big victory by a huge margin of 317 runs over Arunachal Pradesh in Group-A match of U-23 Men’s State-A Trophy at Alur Cricket Stadium, Bangalore today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K rode on a big opening partnership of 227 runs between Qazi Junaid and Shivansh Sharma to pile up a massive total.
Shivansh scored masterful 131 runs off 115 balls, studded with 10 fours and 4 sixes, while Junaid hit brilliant 108 runs off 94 balls including 12 fours and 3 sixes. Musaif Ajaz contributed brisk 48 runs off 32 balls with 5 fours and one six, while dangerous Abdul Samad hit 51 off just 19 balls with 6 massive sixes and a boundary. Gritty Kawal Preet Singh contributed valuable unbeaten 37 runs off 33 balls, while Yawer Hassan chipped in with quick-fire 15 off 7 balls with six and a boundary.
For Arunachal Pradesh, Mibom Mosu took 3 wickets by conceding 104 runs in his 10 overs, while Shuhel Ansari bagged 2 wickets by giving away 78 runs in 9 overs. Dol also claimed one wicket. In reply, Arunachal Pradesh bundled out for a paltry total of 79 runs, thus J&K won the match by a huge total of 317 runs. Prince Yadav top scored with 31 runs while Shuhel Ansari contributed 15 runs to the total.
For J&K, Vanshaj Sharma and Archit Mahajan captured 3 wickets each, while Basit Bashir bagged 2 wickets. Vishal Kumar and Manit Jasrotia claimed one wicket each.
