Shivanshi proves mettle in Chess C’ship, claims first position

UDHAMPUR, June 18: The youngest Chess player of the State Shivanshi again proved her mettle and secured first position in the 2nd Jagdev Singh Channotra State Open Chess Championship, being organized by Jammu Chess Academy, here.
During the championship, 10-year-old Shivanshi secured first position in under-10 and open categories. She bagged two points out of four in the open category.
On the valedictory function, Aman Kalsotra, President, District Udhampur Chess Association was the chief guest, who awarded cash prize to the youngest chess player Shivanshi.
While speaking, Kalsotra asked the Government and the State Sports Council to extend support to the budding players for nurturing their talent, so that they can compete at national and international levels and bring laurels to the State.
