JAMMU, Oct 7: A Debate Competition was conducted today in ‘Display Your Talent’, being organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.
Dean Students Welfare, Prof Satnam Kour, Associate Dean (SW), Dr Anupama Vohra, Assistant Dean (SW), Dr AR Manhas, students and scholars were present on the occasion.
Shivika Thakur from Department of Zoology and Sangpriya from GCW, Parade shared the first position. The second prize was awarded to Tushar Kalsotra from The Law School, JU and The third position was shared by Swikriti Mahajan from The Law School, JU and Seerat Baji from GCW, Gandhi Nagar.
The topic for the debate was “Digitalization is Essential for India and Ethical Concerns of Privacy and Surveillance should be aligned with it.”
Prof Indira Rathore, Dr Varun Tripathi and Dr Anubhav Mathur were the judges and Dr Garima Gupta was the Teacher InCharge of the event.
The event was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor. Manreet, Yasir, Pawan, Payal, Avinash, Pallvi, Divya, Hempreet and Anjali did the hall management.
In Essay Writing Competition, Ajay Vaid from Department of Political Science, JU and Bhuvesh Pargal from GDC, Samba were declared first and second respectively. The third position was shared by Digvijay Singh from Department of Sociology, JU and Kamini Devi.
In Short Story Writing, The first position was awarded to Nitasha Singh Bali from Department of Psychology, JU, Sahil Singh Chib from GDC Akhnoor and Sutinderjeet Kour from GCW, Gandhi Nagar.
The students who secured first prizes in different events of ‘Display Your Talent’ will be felicitated at the valedictory function to be held on October 9 at 2 pm at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.
