JAMMU, Dec 29: Shivnandan Singh, an employee of the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), achieved remarkable success at the J&K UT Master Athletics Championship 2024, held at the University of Jammu. Competing in various track and field events, Singh secured a Silver medal in the 200-meter race and a Bronze in the 800-meter event, drawing praise from spectators and officials alike.
The championship, organized by the Master Athletics Association, saw enthusiastic participation from athletes across the Union Territory, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship. The valedictory ceremony was graced by Tajinder Singh, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, who lauded the athletes for their dedication and emphasized the role of sports in fostering fitness and camaraderie.
Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary to Government Youth Services and Sports J&K and Rajinder Singh Tara, Director General of Youth Services and Sports, commended Singh for setting a high standard for the department’s employees. They highlighted his impressive performance, especially considering the challenges athletes face in their 50s, and urged him to continue inspiring younger athletes.
