RAMBAN, Apr 2: Irked over the deplorable condition of link roads and Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the shopkeepers of Banihal held protest here today.
A large number of shopkeepers after closing their business establishments assembled on SDH Banihal Link Road and held protest.
Amid slogans against the district administration and the construction company engaged in construction work of four-laning of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the shopkeepers blocked the Highway.
The shopkeepers alleged that due to worst condition of the link roads and Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, they are facing manifold problems.
The protestors alleged that the district administration and the company engaged in the four laning work of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway are playing with their health by not sprinkling water while doing execution work on the Highway.
“All the dust particles emitted while doing execution work enters our shops and damages the goods. Some of the shopkeepers have fallen ill due to air pollution”, they added.
They further alleged that the management of the construction company and district administration have not taken any preventive measures to control the air pollution while executing work on the Highway and also on link roads.
After getting information, SDM Banihal along with police team rushed to the spot and assured the protestors of taking up their demand with the concerned authorities for early redressal.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the Highway.
