UDHAMPUR, July 1: Shopkeepers at Kud blocked the road and staged protest demonstration against Traffic Department and district administration Udhampur and raised slogans.
The protesting shopkeepers demanded shifting of stranded heavy vehicles from old Kud road, Tamater Morh, Chenani and Patnitop roads.
They said that stranded heavy vehicles hinder tourists from visiting their shops thereby affecting their business.
They also said that they took the issue with concerned authorities many times but nothing fruitful resulted and their business season is at stake at present.
Later, SDM Chenani Abdul Sttar, SDPO Chenani, Santokh Raj and SHO Chenani Paramjeet Singh visited the spot and pacified the protestors by assuring action on their demands.
After this the protestors lifted the blockade and dispersed.
Prominent among those who were present in the protest were Sohil Anwar, President Beopar Mandal Kud; Sarpanch Pachote, Parkash Chand, Pardeep Kumar and other.
