JAMMU, Jan 17: Wrestler Shotu of Akhnoor lifted 45th Annual Dhara-Ardhan dangal title defeating wrestler Inderjeet of Amritsar, Punjab in the main bout that lasted for 15 minutes at village Pail, here today.
Wrestler Shotu was adjusted as the best Wrestler of the dangal which was organized by Dhara-Ardhan Dangal Committee under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
The title winner Shotu got a handsome cash prize of Rs 5,100 by MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma and Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council Shiv Kumar Sharma while runner-up Wrestler Inderjeet got Rs 3,000 by president J&K Yuva Rajput Sabha Surinder Singh Gill Manhas and Jatinder Singh, President of the dangal Committee.
MLA Akhnoor Shri Rajeev Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who distributed cash prizes among the winner and runner-up Wrestlers. Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India who is also president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and president Senior Citizens Welfare Forum Katra Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. President J&K Yuva Rajput Sabha Surinder Singh Gill Manhas was the guest of honour.
The second main bout was fought between Devinder of Domana Akhara Jammu and Johnny of Amritsar. This bout was won by Devinder, he was cash awarded with Rs 4,100 while runner-up Wrestler Johnny got Rs 2,000. Third bout was won by Dharminder of Amritsar defeated Murad Ali of Domana Akhara. 4th bout was won by Sadiq of Domanana Akhara who defeated Suresh of Pathankot. In all, 67 bouts were played in the one day long dangal. An expenditure of Rs 1, 30,000/- has been incurred for conduct of this one dangal.
