JAMMU, Nov 5: Magni-ficent inning of 61 runs off 35 balls helped Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu to registered win over GDC Bhaderwah and lift the title trophy of the Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament, organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at varsity ground, here today.
Batting first, GDC Bhaderwah scored 160 runs by losing 8 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Sahil Najar made 39 runs off 31 balls with the help of four boundaries and one six, while Sawan chipped in 31 runs including 1 boundary and 2 sixes and Hanan made 26 runs off 19 balls with the help of 2 boundaries and 1 six.
For GMC Jammu, Palash was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 5 wickets by giving only 20 runs in his 4 overs spell, while Sawan took one wicket.
In the second inning, GMC Jammu chased the target in 18 overs by losing 4 wickets. Shourya played a magnificent inning of 61 runs off 35 balls with the help of three boundaries and 4 sixes, while Rizwan chipped in 35 runs including 2 boundaries and 1 six. Sawan also contributed with 34 runs including 4 boundaries.
For GDC Bhaderwah, Anzar and Ankush took 1 wicket apiece.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik, Vijay Kumar and Raj Kumar Bakshi as umpires, while Rahul maintained the scorecard.
On the valedictory function, Prog Shailender Singh Jamwal, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu was the chief guest, who distributed medals and title trophy to the players of the winning team in the presence of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Among others present were Prof SS Balwal Principal GDC Bhaderwah, Vikas Karlopia, Ravish Vaid, Ashwani Bali, Gagan Kumar and Raj Kumar Bakshi, Cricket coach.
