JAMMU, Jan 29: Shreya Gupta has once again brought laurels to J&K-UT by winning Gold medal at 34th Senior National Fencing Championship being held at Guwahati. The championship commenced from January 28 to 31, 2024 at Guwahati in Assam.
On the first day of the competition, Shreya gave a scintillating performance and defeated Rishika Khajuria from J&K-UT in a one sided finish by a margin of 15-6. In the semi-final, Shreya got the better of Sanya of Punjab convincingly by a score of 15-12 whereas in the medal bout Shreya outclassed Kashish Barad of Maharashtra by 15-13.
Recently, Shreya had won her third national junior title at Raipur, Chhattisgarh. With this Gold medal (Total 17), she became the first female player from J&K-UT to win Senior National gold and thereby created history. Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull has lauded the performance of Shreya Gupta and Rishika.
