Shrine Board augmenting street lighting, other public infrastructure in Katra

KATRA, Sept 23: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, as part of its social responsibility, has taken up augmenting street lights at Katra, the base town for the pilgrimage to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji, with a view to facilitating the pilgrims and people of the area at large.
The Shrine Board has taken a decision to contribute to the Navratra Festival by way of carrying out infrastructure/development related activities in Katra which would be beneficial for the pilgrims and the local population on a long term basis.  In line with the above, the Shrine Board after making an assessment of the facilities requiring immediate attention, decided to undertake augmenting the street lights in Katra town.
Dr Mandeep K  Bhandari, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board informed that the Navratras are starting from 25th of this month and considering the felt need of the town for proper lighting of the area, the Board has taken up augmenting the street light facility.  Till today, 80 street lights have been made functional in the town by replacing these with energy efficient lights.
The Shrine Board, under its social responsibility scheme, has been undertaking large infrastructure projects in Katra town, including construction of circular road, multipurpose sports stadium, expansion of facilities on Katra-Banganga road etc.  The Shrine Board is also exploring other areas of intervention considering the Navratras in Katra town.
The Katra town would be expecting large inflow of pilgrims in view of upcoming Navratras.
