JAMMU, July 21: A high level Sikh delegation under the leadership of president, J&K Sikh United Front, Sudershan Singh, today called on Financial Commissioner (FC), Revenue, J&K and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, regarding the holding of District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (DGPC) elections in the State.
The deputationists said that the Government had issued a election schedule for conducting elections of DGPC few months back but no progress was made in this regard. They said that no progress of delimitation of new districts has been made so far and the notification for the Gurudwara elections has expired.
They demanded that more time be granted for issuing of new schedule, fresh election schedule be published and elections be held before the code of conduct is issued by the Election Commissioner.
