JAMMU, Mar 23: In the first National Silambam Championship held at Patliputra Stadium, Patna, players from Jammu brought glory to the State by winning galaxy of silver and bronze medals in Under-16 category.
The tournament was organized by Bihar Silambam Association where budding players participated under different age group categories.
A programme was organized to honour the students for bringing pride and glory to the State, here today.
State Incharge of BJP Cells, Sat Sharma (CA) was the chief guest on the occasion, while president and chief patron, Usha Kher; Jammu District president of the Association, Rahul Singh; BJP Leader and joint secretary, Amrik Singh; State vice president BJYM, Karan Sharma and Munish Raja were also present on the occasion.
In girls category, Tanisha Jamwal won two silver medals in 48 kg and open weight category. Sarita bagged bronze medal in 32 kg, Muskan and Simran too bagged bronze medals in 52 kg and 56 kg categories respectively.
In boys category, Manik bagged silver medal in 35 kg category. Sumit won silver medal in 38 kg category, Shivam won silver in 25 kg category, Sumit Chib bagged silver in 48 kg category and Dheeraj Kumar won silver medal in 52 kg category.
Chief guest, Sat Sharma lauded the efforts of the students for this achievement.
The State players were trained by the coaches Kawaljeet Singh and Komal Gupta.
