Silver medalist in Int’l Karate Meet accorded warm welcome

Sahil Singh accompanied by coach Ambedkar Gupta and Vishal Singh at Jammu Railway Station while returning from Canada.

JAMMU, Oct 18: J&K’s Sahil Singh Langeh, who fetched silver medal in the 7th Commonwealth Karate Championship held at Montreal in Canada recently was accorded warm welcome, here today.
Members of sports community, players, parents and sarpanch of Sahil’s village gathered at Jammu Railway Station with dhols and drums and accorded warm reception to the hero, who not only brought laurels to the State but also to the Country.
The ace karateka was accompanied by Ambedkar Gupta, president of J&K State Karateka Association, who was coach of Indian Karate team which returned with flying colours, winning 5 gold and 7 silver medals.
Sahil won medal in +84 kg junior men’s kumite event and became first medal winner from J&K in an International event, organized by the parent World Body of Karate WKF.
Vishal Singh of Jammu and Kashmir also participated in this prestigious Commonwealth Karate Championship.
