Simula CC, ICC register wins, enter semis

JAMMU, Dec 10: Simula Cricket Club (SCC) and ICC registered wins against their opponents and entered into the semis of the ongoing 5th Christmas T-20 Cricket Tournament, being jointly organized by Christian Sports Organization Jammu and Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu with the support of Diocese of J&K at Parade ground, here today.
Earlier, in the first match Simula Club defeated Adity Welfare Trust XI by 16 runs. Batting first Simula Cricket Club scored 169 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs with Shashi and Anshuman contributing 58 and 49 runs respectively.
From bowling side, Abhishek and Mendis took 3 wickets each, while Nikhal took 2 wickets.
In reply, AWT XI bundled out at 153 runs for 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs thus lost the match by 16 runs. Mohit made 48 runs and Sourav scored 29 runs.
From SCC side, Shashi took 3 wickets, Akash and Raman scalped 2 wickets each while Hrithik took 1 wicket. Shashi was adjudged as Man of the match.
In another match, ICC defeated Vishal Cricket Club by 7 runs. Batting first ICC scored 121 runs by losing all wickets. Gourav made 41 runs and Rahil scored 34 runs.
From VCC side, RC Kotwal took 3 wickets, Ramandeep and Vishal took 2 wickets each while Sunny and Abhinav Puri scalped 1 wicket each.
In reply, Vishal Cricket Club could not chase the target and made 114 by losing all the wickets in 18.3 overs thus lost the match by 7 runs. Abhinav Puri made 44 runs and Rajesh Gill scored 21 runs.
From ICC side, Rishav took 4 wickets, Rahil took 3 wickets while Abhishek took 2 wickets. Rishav was declared as Man of the Match.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Madan Mohan, Ashok, Sandeep and Vinod.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Arsh Cricket XI will take on Lakshmi XI.
The slogan of the tournament is “Be Healthy-Don’t Do Drugs”. Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and Former Ranji Player is the organizing secretary of the event, whereas the sponsors of the event are Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, Federal Bank, South Indian Bank and Canara Bank.
