Simula drubs JCC to meet RCC Srinagar in summit clash

JAMMU, Mar 16: Strong Simula XI drubbed equally balanced Jammu Cricket Club in a close contest by a narrow margin of 15 runs in the semifinals to seal berth in the finals of the ongoing Salute & Tribute to Siachen Martyrs T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Parade Sports Association at Parade Ground, here.
Now, Simula XI will lock horns with Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC), Srinagar in the summit clash at the same venue on March 27, 2016.
Earlier, batting first, Simula XI scored a good total of 149 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Hardeep Singh (Prince) was the top scorer with 52 runs, while Atul Sharma, Mohit Puri and Dhruv Mahajan contributed 24, 21 and unbeaten 18 runs to the total respectively. Hardeep, in particular played a brilliant knock, hitting the ball with fluidity and grace.
For JCC, Vivek Singh took 3 wickets, while Rahil Singh and Vishwajeet Singh bagged 2 wickets each and Rohit Sharma claimed one.
In reply, JCC managed to score 134 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 15 runs. Jaswinder Singh top scored with 36 runs, while Paras Sahrma contributed unbeaten 28 runs to the total. Sandeep Singh and Vivek Singh chipped in with 24 and 20 runs respectively. Deepak Dogra also contributed 16 runs to the total. For Simula XI, Gulzar took 2 wickets, while Kulvinder Singh and Vikram claimed one wicket e each. Hardeep Singh was adjudged as man of the match for his brilliant knock.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Saleem-Ur-Rehman as umpires, while Amarjeet Singh was the scorer.
