JAMMU, Jan 6: Simula and Simax J&K have sealed berth in the semifinals of the ongoing JK UAE T20 Friendship Cup which is being organized at Sharjah by Simula Sports Club J&K, in association with Ministry of Youth Services and Sports and J&K Police Department.
In the first match played here, winning the toss and batting first, Simax J&K scored 159 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Rajesh Gill was the top scorer with 42 runs in 36 balls, while Imran Haroon and Amir Aziz contributed 32 and 27 runs to the total respectively. Asif Ali claimed 4 wickets, while Mosin bagged 3.
Omfori, J&K in reply collapsed at 106 runs, losing the match by 53 runs. Shabbir Hussain Rather bowled an excellent spell of 4 overs and claimed 19/5 for Simax. Javed bagged 3 wickets while Amir and Bhanu took 1 wicket each.
In another close contested match, Simula defeated Simax by 3 wickets. Batting first, Simax scored 134 runs in 20 overs. Imran Haroon was brilliant with the bat and played a magnificent innings of 78 runs against the strong bowling line up of Simula. Javed also chipped in with quick 29 runs. Sameer Khajuria, Sameer Ali and Raman Dutta claimed 1 wicket each.
Simula in reply chased the target and won the match by 3 wickets. Sameer and Gulzar helped Simula in chasing down the target easily. Sameer scored 41 runs and Gulzar contributed 31 runs. Sameer hit 3 massive sixes and 4 boundaries, while Gulzar hit 2 sixes and a boundary.
