Simula to face New Challengers in summit clash

JAMMU, Dec 25: Outplaying their rivals convincingly in the semifinals, New Challengers Cricket Club and Simula XI sealed berth in the finals of the ongoing KC Sports Club T20 Cricket Cup, being played at KC School ground, here.
In the first semifinal, New Challengers Cricket Club defeated JKP Cricket Club easily to make way for the title clash.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, JKPCC scored a modest total of 122 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Farooq Ahmed was the top scorer with 50 runs, while Habib and Ashraf contributed 24 and 20 runs to the total respectively. For New Challengers, Soumay Jain was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 important wickets, while Vishwajeet Singh bagged 3 wickets and Deepak claimed one.
In reply, New Challengers Club chased the target in 17.3 overs. Bansi Lal and Pranav Gupta slammed half centuries, scoring 54 and 51 runs respectively. Amir took one wicket for JKP CC. For his splendid bowling display, Soumay Jain was adjudged man of the match.
In another semifinal match, Simula XI thrashed Singh Cricket Club to qualify for the finals. Winning the toss and batting first, Singh Cricket Club scored a modest total of 115 runs in the allotted overs. Sunny scored a marvelous fifty (55), while Dilawar contributed 14 runs to the total. Gulzar was the wrecker-in-chief for Simula XI, who scalped 5 wickets, while Dhruv Mahajan bagged 2 and Monu claimed one wicket.
Simula XI chased the target in 17.3 overs, with Dhruv Mahajan, Mohit Puri and Vivek Thappa contributing 34, 26 and 19 runs respectively. For Singh Cricket Club, Sourav, Sham Singh and Rajinder claimed 2 wickets each.
