Simula XI crush Atman Sports; lifts Baisakhi Tri Series T-20 Cup

JAMMU, Apr 13: Simula XI crushed Atman Sports XI by 6 wickets in the final and lifted the title trophy of the Baisakhi Tri Series T-20 Cup, being organised jointly by the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), Department of Youth Service and Sports, Simula Software and Atman Sports Jammu at MA Stadium, here today.
Electing to bat first, after winning the toss, Atman Sports XI scored 126 runs for all in allotted 20 overs. Sahil was the top scorer with 30 runs, while Sandeep and Paras also contributed 27 and 25 runs respectively.
For Simula XI side, Bandeep and Prince scalped two wickets each, while Sameer, Dhruv and Vikram took one wickets apiece.
While chasing the target, Simula Xi rode on a fabulous display of batting by skipper Dhruv Mahajan who scored unbeaten 52 runs to clinch the title trophy by 6 wickets. Shashi also made 30 runs.
For Atman Sports XI side, Sahil took 2 wickets, while Parveen and Rahil claimed one wicket each.
Dhruv Mahajan was declared the best batsman, Sahil was declared best bowler whereas Dhruv Mahajan was adjudicated as man of the series for his super performance in batting and bowling.
The match was officiated by Sudhir Singh, JD Singh, Harbinder Singh and Sadiq as umpires, whereas Sandeep maintained the scorecard.
On the valedictory function, Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Naveen Agarwal was the chief guest, who distributed trophies to the winner and runner up teams in presence of Ved Prakash, Deputy Director Youth Services, Hilal Rather, MD, Simula Infa Development, Sanjay Mahajan, Chairman, Atman Educational Society, Deepak Handa, Tirath Ram, DYSSO Jammu and David Mattoo.
While speaking, DG Sports said that sports and games inculcate discipline and team spirit among the players, besides helping them to be physically and mentally fit.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by the Rajesh Dhar, and vote of thanks was presented by organizing secretary Rajesh Gill.
