JAMMU, June 22: Singh Cricket Club (Singh CC) beat Tacharwan Cricket Club (TCC) with narrow margin of 12 runs and reached semi-finals round of the ongoing First Pitamber Lal Sharma Memorial Tournament, being played at Govt Higher Secondary School Akhnoor, here today.
Tacharwan Tigers won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, the Singh CC scored 178 runs on the loss of nine wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Nitin Verma made highest 56 runs off 35 balls, Abhi scored 38 runs off 14 balls and Robin contributed 33 runs off 19 balls. From bowling side, Mukesh got three wickets, Shottu and Pankaj shared two wickets each, whereas Sachiv clinched one wicket.
In reply, the Tacharwan Tigers managed to score only 166 runs by losing all wickets in 19.4 overs and hence lost the match with narrow margin of 12 runs. Sachiv was top scorer who made 61 runs off 26 balls, whereas Kalu scored 21runs off 26 balls and Sandy made 27 runs in just 13 balls. From bowling side, Binny clinched three wickets, whereas Sham Singh and Sumit Pandit shared two wickets each and Bendy and Robin got one wicket each.
Nitin Verma was declared as man of the match. Vikas Bali and Rajinder Sharma acted as umpires and Nikhil Jamwal and Dev Pal were scorers of today’s match.
It is pertinent to mention here that the tournament is being played on knockout basis, organised by Singh Cricket Club under the supervision of Sham Singh Langeh (General Secretary JKCA, District Jammu).
