AKHNOOR, Jan 20: Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor registered thrilling win by 4 runs over Friends Cricket Club to seal berth in the finals of the ongoing New Year Cricket Cup Akhnoor 2019 at Governmnet Higher Secondary School ground, here.
Earlier, put into bat, Singh CC scored a good total of 175 runs by losing 7 wickets. Sunil Govil was the top scorer with brilliant 73 runs off 42 balls, while Amit and Manik contributed 25 and 22 runs respectively. Jaipal and Rajeev shared 2 wickets each for Friends CC, while Parveen, Vipin and Ankit claimed one wicket each.
In reply, FCC fell short of just 4 runs as they scored 171 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 6 wickets, thus lost the match by 4 runs. Vipan, Jimmy and Rohan contributed 42, 30 and 22 runs to the total respectively. From Singh CC, Sumit and Sunil Bendy took 2 wickets each, while Sham Singh Langeh, Pankaj and Happy claimed 1 wicket each. Sunil Govil and Sumit were adjudged as the joint winners of man of the match award.
