Six-a-Side Knockout U-21 Men’s Hockey tourney underway

JAMMU, Nov 2: The Under-21 Men’s Six-a-Side Knockout Hockey Tournament at Bandhu Rakh continued today with thrilling quarterfinal and semifinal action. Organized by the Bandhu Rakh Hockey Club in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, the tournament is dedicated to the memory of Late Harbans Singh.
In an intense quarterfinal match, Gurdaspur Hockey Club secured a decisive 5-2 victory over Bandhu Rakh Junior Hockey Club. The afternoon semifinals brought more excitement: Bandhu Rakh Senior Hockey Club achieved a close 2-1 win against Sahil Club Senior Hockey Club, while Gurdaspur Hockey Club dominated GNN Hockey Club with another strong 5-2 performance, advancing to the final.
Today’s chief guests, Baljinder Singh (Division Sports Officer), Charanjeet Singh (ex-President, Wine Association), and Pawan Kumar, were present to encourage the young athletes. Charanjeet Singh highlighted the role of sports in promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle for youth. Other notable attendees included Inderpal Singh Munna, Gurjeet Singh, Manjeet Singh, Amarjeet Singh and Jagjeet Singh.
Match officials Tanishpreet Singh and Harvinderpal Singh officiated the games, with technical support from Taranjeet Singh, Dalvinder Singh and Sukhwinder Singh. As the tournament nears its finale, it continues to spotlight the skill and dedication of these young hockey talents.
