Six shooters qualify for National Championship

JAMMU, Sept 19: Six shooters groomed and trained at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex at Katra have qualified for the National Rifle Shooting Championship to be held later this year.
These shooters include Subashish, Sagar Gupta, Shruti Sharma and Renu Sharma in the Junior category while Arjun Sharma and Pragya Verma have been selected in the Youth category.
Based on their excellent performance in the ongoing GV Mavalankar Shooting Championship at Ahmedabad Gujarat, they have qualified for nationals. It is pertinent to mention here that more than 6000 shooters from the country are participating in the GV Mavalankar Championship in Gujarat.
Dr Ashok Bhan, Member Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Sports Complex and Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, have congratulated the shooters of the Sports Complex who have qualified for the national championship.
The team comprising 11 members from the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, including 7 in the rifle shooting and 4 in the pistol shooting event were deputed by J&K Rifle Association along with other shooters of Jammu and Kashmir to participate in the championship, said Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB.
It is also worth mentioning that one Archer of the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex has also qualified for Tokyo Olympics.
