JAMMU, Oct 9: ‘My River’ painting competition was organised by Wildlife Protection Department in collaboration with The Himalayan Avian and other organisations at NIC Manda wherein K Ramesh Kumar, Chief Conservator was the chief guest of the closing ceremony.
About 287 students of 48 Schools from the J&K participated and displayed their talent during the exhibition. Siya Parihar, student of Model Academy won the first position in senior wing, whereas Siya Sharma and Vanshika Choudhary secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
All these winners including winners of junior wing have been honoured with meritorious certificates.
Speaking on the occasion, K Ramesh Kumar, Chief Conservator appreciated the work of the students and said that the children presented a better glimpse of the rivers and sub-based birds of Jammu and Kashmir in their paintings which will bring awareness among the people. Earlier, the chief guest visited the ‘Birds of My River Painting Exhibition’ where he carefully observed each and every painting during the exhibition.
The five day long exhibition on ‘Birds of My River’ began on October 5 at NIC Centre Manda Deer Park, which was inaugurated by Chief Wildlife Warden J&K Government, Suresh Gupta in presence of Regional Warden M Kumar Singh, Conservator Balaji, CM Sharma, Darshan Mehra, Warden Anil Atri and Amit Sharma.
The Women Club ‘Meri Pehchan’ chairperson Sandhya Gupta and parents of Major Arun Bazala distributed gifts among children.
