Skinder Pal, Satwant help JKP Central team to lift title trophy

JAMMU, Dec 3: Superb display of soccer skills by Sikander Pal and Satwant helped J&K Police Central Hockey team of J&K Armed to defeat New Gurdaspur Club by six goals to two (6-2) in an easy contest to win the title trophy of the 1st Gurbaksh Singh (Danna) Memorial Hockey Tournament at KK Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, here today.
Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla was the chief guest on the occasion, while Baba Swaran Singh and Sant Tajwant Singh were the guests of honour.
The chief guest distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
Earlier, Sainik Colony Club struck early as Sikander Pal scored three back to back goals in 1st, 3rd and 4th minute of the match, while Satwant netted in 31st and 63rd minute, before Jaspreet scored in 12th minute of the match.
For New Gurdaspur Club, Jaswinder Singh and Suresh Pathania netted first and second goal respectively.
The match was officiated by Charanjit Singh, Jagjeet Singh, JS Reen and Indpal Singh, while the event was held under the supervision of GS Bakshi and MS Reen was the Tournament Director.
Sikander Pal was adjudged man of the match for showing extraordinary soccer skills, while Mandeep Singh of GNC was declared man of the tournament. The Fair Play trophy went to Sittu Club Simbal Camp, while Prabjot Singh was named emerging player of the tournament.
