Skipper Paul’s 140 put Tamil Nadu in driving seat

JAMMU, Jan 5: Magnificent 140 runs by skipper Pradosh Ranjan Paul and superb 6-wicket haul by left-arm spinner P Vidyuth put Tamil Nadu in the driver’s seat against visitors Jammu and Kashmir in Cooch Behar Under-19 Trophy at SNR College Cricket Ground, Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.
After sailing on 5-wicket haul by Joy Gupta to bundle out J&K for a paltry total of 57 runs in their first innings, Tamil Nadu rode on brilliant batting display by their skipper Paul to score 249 runs and earn a first innings lead of 192 runs. Paul hit 15 fours and 6 sixes in his superb knock, while Boopathi Vaishna Kumar contributed 35 runs to the total. From J&K, Basit Bashir and Sampark Gupta took 4 wickets each, while Govind Sharma and Azhar Amin Wani claimed one wicket each.
J&K managed to score 268 runs in their second innings to set a target of 77 runs for the hosts. Yawer Hassan and Kanhaiya Wadhawan scored 57 and 54 runs respectively, while openers Dikshant Kundal and Mohd Hurrair contributed 38 and 28 runs to the total respectively. P Vidyuth was the wrecker-in-chief for Tamil Nadu, who captured 6 important wickets, while Joy Gupta, Aashiq Khaleel Rehman and Pradosh Ranjan Paul claimed one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 77 runs, Tamil Nadu were 5/0 at stumps on day-2 today. Vikram Sateesh (5) and skipper Paul (0) were at the crease at the draw of stumps.
