SKUAST-J beats HPU in VC-Cup

JAMMU, Nov 7: SKUAST-Jammu team defeated Himachal Pradesh University Shimla team by 25 runs in the ongoing All India Vice Chancellor’s T-20 Cricket tournament, being played at CCS Haryana University Hisar, today.
Electing to bat after winning the toss the SKUAST-J scored 106 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Manjeet Sheel was the highest scorer with 34 runs, while Imran Hussain and Naresh Bhat contributed 20 & 16 not out respectively. The unbeaten 5th wicket partnership between Manjeet and Naresh took the score to 106 runs.
In reply, HPU Shimla while chasing couldn’t maintain the tempo and lost wickets at regular intervals particularly due to the very economical bowling by Niraj Manhas and Rajinder Singh in the initial overs and then by the rest of the bowlers. For SKUAST-Jammu, Manjeet took 3 wickets by giving 20 runs while Rajinder and Dr BN Singh picked up 2 wickets each. Niraj and Shamas-u-Din clinched 1 wicket each.
Manjeet Singh was declared as the “player of the match” for his outstanding all-round performance.
The SKUAST-Jammu will play its next match against Punjabi University Chandigarh.
