SKUAST-J organizes soil health management programme

VIJAYPUR,  Nov 26: An awareness programme on soil health management was today organized by SKUAST-Jammu at village Chak Salarian, Vijaypur of Samba district,  under the guidance of Dr  J  P  Sharma, Director Research of SKUAST-Jammu.
The programme was coordinated by Dr P  K  Rai along with a team of scientists of SKUAST-Jammu and officers from NABARD Jammu and Department of Agriculture, Government  of J&K.
Describing soil testing as  imperative to soil health management, Dr  P  K  Rai, Sr. Scientist, ACHR,  highlighted the importance of nurturing soil health for improved and sustainable agriculture. Dr. Jai Kumar, Jr. Scientist, ACRA, Dhiansar,  made the farmers aware of importance of diversified cultivation practices of crops in climate change scenario.  Surinder Kumar, DDM, NABARD,  gave details of Government schemes for farmers and procedures of availing the benefits of these schemes. . Ashok Gupta, Deputy Director, NMAET and  Yog Raj, AEO, Department of Agriculture,  encouraged farmers to take the benefits of schemes available with their respective departments.
