JAMMU, Feb 26: SKUAST – Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) has constituted a blood donation committee and created a data base of approximately two hundred blood donors comprising of one hundred seventy (170) faculty members and thirty (30) students. According to the president SKUAST-TAJ, Dr Vikas Sharma, the data base contains seventy two (72) donors of blood group B+ve, forty five (45) of blood group O+ve, twenty seven (27) of blood group A+ve and forteen (14) of blood group AB+ve. “Moreover, they have the distinction of possessing donors of blood groups A-ve and O-ve and Association is still striking hard to identify persons with rarest blood groups i.e., AB-ve and B-ve from the volunteers of non-teaching staff of SKUAST-Jammu”, said TAJ president, Dr Vikas.
Dr Vivek M Arya, general secretary of the Association emphasized that very soon the teaching association in collaboration with students and non-teaching staff will organize blood donation camps to donate blood for the needy patients.
