Slathia advises oppn to desist from mudslinging

SAMBA,  Sept 9:  Cautioning people against certain political groups inimical to peace and progress of the State, Minister for Industries and Commerce Surjit Singh Slathia today decried the propaganda unleashed by these disgruntled politicians against the Coalition Government, saying this reflects their political bankruptcy and desperation for power.
The Minister was addressing a public meeting at village Jhang in Vijaypur constituency after inaugurating newly constructed lanes and drains/ Nallah completed at a cost of Rs 15. 32 lakh under BADP Model Village Swankha Scheme (Cluster Area Approach).
Taking a dig at the political groups, which on the one hand talk of healing touch and dignity of the people and on the other hand play politics of deceit and trickery, the Minister warned them that indulging in such dirty politics will boomerang on them and prove counterproductive for their survival as people of the State are wise enough to distinguish between good and evil.
He said that such cheap and populist politics was harmful for the growth and development and also derails the gains achieved through peace and development.
He advised the opposition to indulge in healthy criticism of the Government and its policies which would be beneficial to the people and   desist from mudslinging and hitting below the belt politics which serve no purpose.
He said that present Government was committed to equal and balanced development of all the regions of the State so that all imbalances are reduced. He said that the hallmark of the present dispensation was development and peace. He said that massive development activities have been launched all across the state and the results will be visible to the people very soon. He said that from providing basic amenities in the villages to strengthening the infrastructure of the State, the Government was committed to holistic development. He said that all vital sectors like health, education, roads, power, water supply etc are receiving focused attention of the Government and the Chief Minister was personally monitoring the progress of each sector on daily basis.
The Government has also introduced several reformative laws and programmes to ensure speedy public delivery system like Right to Information Act, Public Service Guarantee Act and Accountability Commission etc which has given power to the people and helped to enforce accountability and transparency towards the people.
The Minister also announced construction of culvert and shed at Shamshan Ghat Jhang for the convenience of the people.
He also directed the concerned department to ensure early blacktopping of the road from Jhang to Swankha, filling of the pond and boundary wall of the school.
He also assured the people that all the pending works of lanes and drain in the areas would be completed soon.
He directed the PDD to ensure early replacement of old electric wires and poles in the area. He also announced compensation to affected families whose houses have been damaged due to recent heavy rainfall.
The Minister also laid foundation stone of Health Sub Centre at Village Chak Chataka to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 54. 40 lakh.
