Slathia pays tributes to martyr

VIJAYPUR Oct 17: Former minister and senior National Conference leader  Surjeet Singh Slathia  today paid glowing tribute to martyrs, who stood firm in the defense of nation in challenging situations.
“We salute the valour of brave jawans, who laid down their lives while defending the nation”, Slathia said while leading people in paying homage to Shaheed Havaldar  Tara Chand Lakotra at a function held at  village Khod Slarian (Nandpur) in district Samba today.
Martyr Lakotra sacrificed his life during `Operation Prakrama’ at Sunderbani  in district Rajouri this day, 17 years ago. “By offering supreme sacrifice, Havaldar  Tara Chand has made the State proud”, Slathia added.
Slathia seized the opportunity to highlight the plight of the border dwellers, who were living under the shadow of fear due to intermittent and unprovoked shelling from across the border. He said the PDP-BJP dispensation has been insensitive towards their plight, as all the promises for creating shelter spaces and allotting plots to the vulnerable segments of border residents have proven hoax.
The local functionaries and the prominent citizens of the area also paid tributes to Shaheed Lakotra (Sena Medal) of  4 JAK RIF. They included Mohan Singh Patti, Block president National Conference Ramgarh and Romesh Mortan, president JKBWA.
Om Prakash Attri, Ex- Sarpanch Mohand Lal and Sunny Choudhary also paid tributes to the martyr.
