SMVD Gurukul celebrates 11th Annual Day

KATRA, Aug 31: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) Gurukul celebrated its 11th Annual Day with great zeal and enthusiasm on a virtual platform due to the pandemic restrictions, today here.
Dr Ashok Bhan, Member Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Council for Gurukul; Ramesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, SMVD Shrine Board; Vivek Verma, Additional CEO; Prof Y K Mishra and Prof Vishwamurty Shastri, members of the Governing Council; Dr Sunil Sharma, Deputy CEO of the Board and Administrator of the Gurukul and Dr Arvind Karwani, Ex-Administrator, SMVD Gurukul; besides the faculty, staff and more than one hundred students of the Gurukul participated in the function through online mode.
Dr Bhan lauded the students for excelling in academics as well as in co-curricular activities. He also appreciated the efforts for organising online classes for the students of the Gurukul since the lockdown and conducting online tests for continuously evaluating their level of preparation. Dr. Bhan also stressed to create an efficient learning environment in sync with modern education and Guru -Shishya parampara.
Underscoring the need for optimally enhancing the prospects of suitable placements of the passing-out students of the Gurukul, Dr Bhan emphasised on career counselling, besides, he also expressed to devote one day exclusively on Sanskrit speaking in the Gurukul.
Prof YK Mishra laid emphasis on faculty to inspire the students in becoming thoughtful, respectful, and compassionate citizens, whereas, Prof Vishwamurty Shastri stressed upon maintaining Gurukul’s rich tradition, dignity and sense of discipline and CEO, Ramesh Kumar directed Administrator and Principal of the Gurukul to initiate a process for offline classes in light of recent COVID guidelines issued by the Government.
The CEO also recalled the achievements of students of the Gurukul including Anmol Sharma and Ankit Sharma of class 9th and Shastri Part-III, who secured first positions in the entire university in annual examinations of class 8th and Shastri Part-III respectively, conducted by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi.
Dr Dhananjay Mishra, Principal, presented the annual report of the institution, whereas Vice Principal Dr Devendra Rijal presented vote of thanks.
