
REASI, Apr 13: The holy town of Katra came alive with enthusiasm and unity as over 1100 runners took part in the 4th Edition of the Policybazaar SMVD Katra Half Marathon, held amidst the breathtaking Trikuta Hills.
The marathon was flagged off by Baldev Raj Sharma, MLA, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Constituency, who was the chief guest. Alok Kumar Maurya, Additional CEO, SMVDSB, attended as the guest of honour, while Dhruv Gupta, Assistant CEO, SMVDSB, and Vinay Khajuria, Assistant Conservator of Forests, SMVDSB, were present as special guests.
Baldev Raj Sharma praised the event, saying, “It’s inspiring to see such vibrant participation. Events like this promote health, discipline, and togetherness.” The organisers extended gratitude to the district administration, local police, volunteers, and cheering school children for their enthusiastic support.
In the 10 km race, Brij Bhushan secured the top position in the below 35 male category, while Sakshi Thakur emerged winner in the female category. Abhishek Sharma bagged the first position in the 35 to 45 male category, and Dr. Shalini Sharma topped the female category. Dharamvir won in the 45 to 55 male group, while Vineeta Shakya led among the females. Ramender Guleria topped the 55 to 65 male category, while Rekha Katoch emerged winner in the female group. In the above 65 male category, Rampaul Kapoor claimed the first position.
In the 21.1 km race, Ritik Sharma topped the male category, while Rimpi Devi stood first among females. Koj Chobing won in the 35 to 45 male category, and Pooja Pandey in the female category. Anana was the winner in the 45 to 55 male category, while Manminder Kaur topped the female group. Sukhjinder Jaspal and Anjum Kapoor led the 55 to 65 age group in male and female categories, respectively. O.P. Sharma emerged as the winner in the above 65 male category.
In the 5 km marathon, Ajay and Shabu Devi were the winners in the male and female categories, respectively.
