KATRA, Nov 5: The sports wing of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Katra organized Badminton and Table Tennis Championship for the staff at Shrine Board’s Sports Complex as part of staff welfare initiative of the Shrine Board encouraging their employees towards sports and infusing in them health consciousness.
The main objective of the Championship is to help employees of the Board to concentrate on routine work and maintain habits for active participation in sports and allied activities.
Today two semifinals and final match in Badminton were played in men’s section and final in the women’s category.
Dr MK Kumar, Additional CEO Shrine Board was the chief guest on the occasion, while Pankaj Gupta, Amit Vermani Deputy CEOs Hemant Prasher Chief Accounts Officer Shrine Board Katra were the special invitees.
The tournament is being organized under the technical guidance and control of Ashok Kumar, Director Sports and under the patronage Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer.
Results: In Badminton singles, Sunit Kumar Sharma defeated Vipen Sharma by 21-17, 18-21, 21-13 and in women’s section Hemali Ketan Central Office defeated Ruchi Sharma of Establishment Section with 21-14, 21-16.
In Badminton doubles,the pair of Abhishek Sharma (Central Office) and Sunit Sharma (Banganga) defeated the duo of Vipen Sharma (Banganga) and Vishal Gupta Central Office in three sets, with the final score reading 21-19, 22-24 and 21-19.
In Table Tennis, Sanjeev Thappa (NES) defeated Aseem Chadda (Central Office) by 21-13, 21-18.
