KATRA, Aug 29: To pay floral tributes to the great Indian Olympian and Hockey Wizard Major Dhyan Chand, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra organised quiz competition in which six teams of various institutions/clubs participated.
Government Higher Secondary School Panthal got first position, while second position went to Higher Secondary School Reasi and the third position was bagged by Royal Fencing Club.
The competition was conducted by Ranjeet Singh, Vikrant Singh, Kundrorian and Ajay Kumar.
The overall trophy in fencing was won by Amba Kids Panthal in women section and in boys section overall trophy went to Royal Fencing Club.
Dr Swaran Singh Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi witnessed the Competition and gave blessings to the participants.
He also threw light on the life of Major Dhyan Chand ji and quoted various examples on his life.
Rashpal Singh, Deputy CEO Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra was the chief guest on the occasion, while Rajinder Singh, OSD SMVDSB Katra and Dr S S Chib were the guests of honor.
The chief guest and other dignitaries distributed medals and trophies among the winners and also gave mementos to the National medalists of the area in which included Tariq Ahmed who is International fencer and Nisha Devi, Who won Medal in the Inter-University Tournament in Wrestling.
Vote of thanks was presented by Vikrant Singh, Physical Education Teacher.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ajay Kumar, Physical Education Teacher of DYSS Office Reasi.
The competitions was held under the guidance of Ashok Kumar, Director Sports SMVDSB Katra.
