KATRA, Jan 17: With a view to encourage larger participation of youth from the rural and remote areas in various sports activities, Dr Mandeep K Bhandari, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) distributed sports material among different Government schools of Panjar, Sirla Bagha, Damnote, Tote and Moungri as part of social responsibility of the Board at a function held at Katra.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bhandari dwelt on the initiatives being taken by the Shrine Board for encouraging budding sportspersons, particularly from the remote areas.
He said that the distribution of sports material was in terms of the decision taken by SMVDSB Sports Council which is chaired by Dr Ashok Bhan, Member Shrine Board.
He urged heads of the educational institutions to identify talented players in local sports like Volleyball, Kabaddi, Wrestling, Handball and to provide them a platform to excel in the sporting arena.
Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB, presented a vote of thanks.
Among those present on the occasion were representatives of various Government educational institutions and officers of the Shrine Board.
