KATRA, Oct 30: A 2-day Yoga Workshop-cum-District Championship organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) commenced at Multipurpose Hall of Sports Stadium, here today.
Dr M K Kumar, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board inaugurated the event in which 86 boys and girls from 16 Government and private educational institutions of Reasi District are participating.
On this occasion, the Additional CEO interacted with the students participating in the Workshop-cum-District Championship and appreciated them for demonstrating various Yog asanas. He also underscored the benefits of Yog asanas for a healthy living.
Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board giving details of the programme spoke about the initiatives of the Shrine Board being taken with a view to facilitate students and non-student youth to exhibit their sporting talents and share the acquired knowledge with other youth.
Rajesh Bandral and Dayal Ram, Yog experts are imparting training in the workshop and conducting the District Championship about sitting and standing postures and also various exercises for meditation and concentration. The students on the occasion gave demonstration of various Yog asanas. The teachers accompanying the students also participated in the workshop.
Among those present on the occasion were Rajinder Singh, OSD (Revenue), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Principals, Headmasters and teachers of the participating educational institutions.
