SMVDU annual sports festival concludes

JAMMU, May 13: The annual sports festival of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) culminated with the closing ceremony wherein the winners were awarded prizes. The Sports festival, a semester long event, involves the participation of the students in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball in both male and female categories.
The chief guest for the closing ceremony was Prof. Pragati Kumar, the Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, who in his address emphasized upon the importance of sports in life for learning discipline, team work, and perseverance besides attaining physical and mental health.
He applauded the efforts of the organizers, participants and spectators in making the event happen. He also updated about the new sports facilities being developed in the university for the benefit of students.
In the closing ceremony, medals to the winners and awards to the best players were distributed by the chief guest along with the Registrar, Ajay Kumar; Dean, Students Welfare, Prof. R.K. Mishra, President, Board for Sports Activities, Dr. Parvez Singh Slathia, and Vice-President, Board for Sports Activities, Dr. Kamaldeep.
