JAMMU, Nov 2: First-year Bachelor of Design students from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) recently visited the Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC) during the JK Open 2024, organized by the Directorate of Tourism Jammu in collaboration with the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI). The visit offered students a unique learning experience, exposing them to international golf course standards, turf engineering, and course maintenance.
Accompanied by Prof. Ankush Anand, Coordinator of the Bachelor of Design program, and Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq, Assistant Professor at SMVDU, students engaged with international golf professionals and industry experts from the Czech Republic, USA, and India. This immersive experience provided valuable insights into golf course management and design, broadening the students’ understanding of applied design in sports.
Jammu Tawi Golf Course (JTGC), Mechanical Engineer Er. Sohail Malik led an in-depth briefing on turf engineering and operational aspects of golf courses, enhancing the students’ technical knowledge. The group expressed gratitude to key officials including Manav Gupta, Secretary of JTGC; Yasha Mudgal, Secretary of JK Tourism; and Vivekananda Rai, Director of Jammu Tourism, along with the SMVDU administration for this opportunity.
