KATRA, June 19: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra (J&K) has launched 5-years Integrated Dual Degree M Sc (Economics) Program from the coming session 2014-15.
This innovative program was approved by the Executive Council in a meeting chaired by the Governor N N Vohra. As there are not many Universities or institutes offering such an integrated program in the country, the proposed M Sc (Economics) along with B Sc (Hons) degree will provide a great and unique opportunity to the meritorious students passing out 10+2 examination of CBSE or State Boards. The admission will be purely on merit, based on 10+2 score or AIMA’s UGAT score.
This M Sc program will enable the students to compete for the upcoming enormous job market in analytics, consulting, large data-base research etc. At present such jobs are most remunerative and a large number of B Tech Students from IITs and PGDMs of IIMs go for such jobs. The major companies and recruiters of such graduates will be: Bain, BCG, McKinsey, E&Y, Accenture, KPMG, Microsoft, Genpact, PWC, Google, Adobe, GE, HSBC, AMEX, IBM, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, S&P, Moody’s, CRISIL, CIBIL, TCS, Infosys, HCL, Wipro Technologies, Barclays Bank etc.
The curriculum will include the courses and topics which equip students to carry out lucrative emerging jobs in the top level MNCs, including Indian MNC companies.
The added advantage to these students will be that they would have taken several management courses during the five years period at SMVDU.
The intake in the first batch will be 50 whereas it will be increased to 90 in future years.
The last date for submission of Applications for the Program is June 30, 2014.
