JAMMU, Oct 6: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra participated in the 4th India International Science Festival 2018, inaugurated by Ram Nath Kovind, President of India in Lucknow, yesterday.
The IISF-2018 is a collaborative event of Ministries of Science & Technology, Earth Sciences (GoI), Department of Biotechnology and Vigyan Bharati for the promotion of scientific temper in India amongst commoners.
All major central and State Government Departments, Public Sector Units and industries, including the pioneers in science & technology, namely Brahmos, DRDO, ISRO, CSIR Labs, Councils of S&T of Indian States, NIPER along with SMVDU are exhibiting themselves in the Science Fest. SMVD University alumnus, Akash Shrivastva and his team, who are also associated with the SMVDU-TBIC is a panellist in the start-up event at IISF 2018.
Dr HG Mishra, BK Bhatia (Training & Placement Officer), Samir Vohra (Assistant Registrar) and student volunteers, namely Aayush and Rishika represented the University.
Dr Sanjeev Jain, Vice-Chancellor (SMVDU), envisages science festival as a form of social engagement, and a key site for engaging public with contemporary scientific research.
