KATRA, Sept 20: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University has been included under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program – TEQUIP-III scheme of MHRD for transformation of education system with financial assistance from the World Bank.
This was announced by the Vice Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Jain. The third phase of TEQUIP has been started by MHRD for the duration from April 2017 till March 2020. The objectives of TEQUIP is to strengthen institutions to produce high quality engineers for better employability, scaling up post-graduation education and demand-driven R&D and innovation, establishing centers of excellence, training of faculty and enhancement of institutional system management effectiveness.
The funding under the project is for engineering programs and departments approved by AICTE. The project will benefit the university to meet the objective of being a Technical Institution of national importance. Besides all this, the project is considered very prestigious since funding is made available by the World Bank through MHRD, Govt. of India, to carefully selected institutions only. The total project grant under TEQUIP will be Rs 15 crore to be utilized till March 2020.
