JAMMU, Oct 8: System and Operation (S&O) Wing Jammu outplayed EM&RE Direction Office by 21 runs and clinched the title trophy of the PDD Premier League, organized by EM&RE Division-II Gandhi Nagar, here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, S&O Wing made 163 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Manoj played a magnificent inning of 66 runs off 44 balls including four boundaries and seven sixes, while Vishal made 47 runs in 28 balls with the help of three boundaries and five sixes. Kailash also chipped in 22 runs in 20 balls.
For EM&RE Direction Office, Darshan and Bunty scalped 2 wickets each.
In the second inning, EM&RE Direction Office failed to chase the target and bundled out at 142 runs by losing all the wickets in 18.5 overs. Surinder was the top scorer with 28 runs, while Varinder and Jagdish made 22 runs and Yuvraj scored 21 runs.
For S&O Wing, Ajit Singh was the pick of the bowler, who scalped 4 wickets, while Vishal also proved his bowling mettle and took 3 wickets.
On the valedictory function, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, was the chief guest, who presented the title trophy to the winner and also awarded the runner-up and participating teams in presence of guest of honours Ashwani Gupta, Chief Engineer, EM&RE Wing Jammu, SK Zutshi, Chief Engineer S&O Wing Jammu, Ashwani Sahdeva, Superintending Engineer Circle-1 Jammu, Sanjay Sharma, Nodal Officer PDD Jammu and Rajeev Charak, Incharge Training Department BJP.
The dignitaries also presented Best Batsman of tournament award to Manoh and Best Bowler of Tournament award to Darshan.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain and Rajinder Singh as umpires, while Rajeev Gupta acted as scorer. Sanjeev Puri and SK Tikko were the commentators.
The match officials were Sardari Lal, BS Chib, MO Singh, RP Mangotra, Ajaz Kazmi, Munish Chib, Raghu Singh, Sanjeev Bali, Gurdeep Bhalla, Ajay Bahadur Singh, Rajinder Kumar, Kaushal Kumar and Avinash Uttam.
The organizing secretary of the tournament was Ajaz Kazmi, while the service provider was Swagat Caterers.
While speaking, Deputy Chief Minister impressed upon the PDD employees to participate in sports which make them physically and mentally strong and enable them to give best to their profession.
He added that winning and losing is not important but the most important aspect in the life is to come forward and be a part of competition.
Dr Nirmal Singh appealed the public to save electricity in their day to day life for development and growth of the State. He further said that the Government has taken several initiatives to expand the electricity access to the uncovered areas and provide 24×7 power supply to all households in the State.
