The prices of essential commodities are rising sharply despite the fact that the Governments both State and Central have been claiming that prices have been kept at bay. The prices of pulses and vegetables have gone through the roof. With every passing day, these items are going beyond the reach of common man.
There is no check on rates. The rates are fixed by vendors as per their whims and caprices, cocking a snook at the authorities who claim to have kept a vigil on prices in the market. The meat-sellers too have a field day. They sell at rates which are more than what their rate lists exhibit.
There is urgent need to constitute special squads to keep a vigil over price rise. Unless that happens, vendors and shopkeepers will continue to fleece gullible customers day in and day out.
Hope the authorities would wake up to this reality as soon as possible.
