JAMMU, July 19: The Department of Social Welfare, Jammu today conducted a workshop on Drug Abuse and Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojna (PMAGY), here.
The workshop was conducted in the Directorate of Social Welfare, Jammu in which Director, Social Welfare, Jammu, Dr Bharat Bhushan and all the District Social Welfare Officers of Jammu region were present.
Kuldeep Singh, Deputy Director (Planning); Archana Kumari, Chief Accounts Officer, Directorate of Social Welfare; Assistant Director (Scheme), Assistant Director (Admn) besides other officials of the Department participated in the meeting.
Dr Bharat Bhushan, Director Social Welfare, Jammu gave a brief on the ambitious scheme “Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojna” under which 71 villages of nine Districts of the Jammu Province have been selected for undertaking all round development and improvement of basic amenities which have more than 50% Schedule Caste population and are at present lacking in developmental parameters.
He said that the State Government is giving major thrust for the implementation of this scheme in the identified villages.
District Social Welfare Officer, Reasi Gulshan Kumar gave a Power Point Presentation on the salient features of the scheme.
The Deputy Director (Planning), Directorate of Social Welfare, Jammu, Kuldeep Singh apprised in the meeting that the District and Village Level Scheme implementation committees have already been constituted by the respective District Development Commissioners.
The Director exhorted District Social Welfare Officers to work in close coordination with line Departments under the overall guidance of District Development Commissioners.
RS Jamwal, Assistant Director (Admn) briefed about salient features of Drug Demand Reduction Scheme aimed at preventing drug abuse in the society.
The Director asked District Social Welfare Officers to undertake massive awareness campaign in their district on the scheme.
